Setting aside Smiles

I have had a really fun time doing my Daily Smiles, but I have to tell you life can sometimes get too crazy!!  Since my last posted "smile" I have experienced many unrecorded smiles, like beginning preparations for our church Christmas play (a somewhat stressful smile), preparing for three days worth of subs (a tedious smile), traveling to Vegas (an excited smile), having a wonderful time in Vegas (a huge, "this is sooo cool" smile), returning from Vegas (a "dang, the red eye was a really bad idea" smile), trying to get caught up at school (a "how on earth can I have this much paperwork to grade" smile). Well, needless to say I have had a ton of smiles - sorry I wasn't able to share them all.

Since we are moving rapidly toward Thanksgiving, I thought I would do a Thirty Days of Thankfulness during the month of November.  As the month moves me closer to the craziness of Christmas, I figure being grateful is exactly what I need to be!

Daily Smile #6

I don't remember when I've had such a fun time at lunch with two little fifth graders! Smiles and giggles were in great abundance as we took turns asking and answering questions about each other over a fun McDonalds lunch. (As Sophia said, she wanted to use this lunch to get to know her new teacher like she got to know her teacher last year.) Well, we spent so much time chatting that they only had a few minutes to play in the play-place. It was amazing to see how much fun they fit into those few minutes - and even though I was only watching, I enjoyed myself just as much as they did.

Daily Smile # 4

I LOVE FALL!

Let me start by saying, up until the moment I took this shot, it had been one of those Mondays. . . It started off with me forgetting my lunch that I had really been looking forward to eating - the day went downhill from there. That was until I saw this amazing tree. It beckoned me from across the street, and it was a good thing no one was behind me when I stopped in the middle of the intersection to snap this "smile." I was just bummed that it didn't show up like I saw it with my eyes. . .

Daily Smiles #3

This isn't the best picture, but it was sure good for a giggle this afternoon! We were driving to our small group dinner after church when we saw a bear "out for a Sunday afternoon drive" - yeah, it was more like a Sunday afternoon ride. . . I was giggling so hard and Steve was trying to get me in shooting position while still moving along with traffic. If it hadn't been a Sunday, I would have been quite convinced it was "Take Your Bear To Work" Day!

Daily Smiles #2

I love fall! I love the colors and even sometimes the gloomy, rainy afternoons like we had today. This picture was a quick grab as Steve and I were headed out for a late breakfast at Mayberry's. Oh, I had to "play" with it a bit - but this picture just warmed my heart while a big, toasty warm sweatshirt and a jeans warmed the rest of me. . .

Daily Smiles #1

I finally decided what I am going to do with my next 30 days of blogging! I would like to invite you to join me on a 30 day sojourn of smiles as I share with you the moments that I've managed to grab that have made my heart happy and made my load light. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

The first photo was actually from yesterday - Steve bought me a "present" of milk, donuts, and kool-aid. Gave them to me with the gift receipt attached. What a guy!
